Bratla and Tradition of Rajput to Live in the Highest Places


Being of high status the Rajput of the Hill States have traditionally chosen to live in the physically highest location with their subjects occupying the lower lands which is why Kotli and Bratla have been such natural places for the Mangral Rajput. High places also offer a natural advantage against invading forces. The village of Bratla is located at a high point on a steep plateau, at the top of which have been the traditional homes of the Rajput.
